Hearing Health
People who use hearing aids often say that these small devices are one of the best investments they’ve ever made. Yet in order to get the most out of your purchase, your hearing aids will need to be appropriately fit and adjusted. Along with our professional recommendations, your patience and persistence is key in utilizing your devices to their fullest potential. Once you’ve acclimated to this new way of hearing, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to visit us!
During a hearing aid fitting and programming appointment, the team at Active Hearing Center will calibrate your devices to meet your specific needs. The type and extent of your hearing loss as well as your lifestyle will all determine exactly how your devices are adjusted, and we rely on your feedback to let us know how your hearing aids are working for you.
We’ll be sure to give you all of the information and tools needed to excel with your devices from day one, including tips on how to clean and care for them, how to replace their batteries, and how to store them. If your hearing aids come equipped with Bluetooth connectivity or other advanced features, our team will ensure that you feel comfortable taking advantage of everything your device has to offer.
Remember, it can take some time to get used to the way the world sounds with your hearing aids, so it’s best to take a slow and steady approach. Many of our patients wear their hearing aids for longer periods of time each day until they’ve fully adjusted while others are so excited that they use their devices full-time from the start. At Active Hearing Center we recommend that you do whatever feels most comfortable for you, but remember that our staff is always here to answer any questions and offer support along the way.
We recommend scheduling follow-up visits during the first few weeks after receiving your hearing aids, and these visits along with regular maintenance and routine evaluations will help to keep your hearing healthy for years to come. The keys to your success rest in your patience while acclimating to your hearing aids and making sure that you communicate your needs so that we can calibrate your devices to achieve optimum performance.
Hearing aid technology has come a long way in recent years, and these tiny devices are really no different than the smartphone in your pocket or the high-tech computer used in your car engine. Like all electronic devices, your hearing aids may be in need of occasional repair, but you can rest assured that the team at Active Hearing Center can get your devices functioning again in no time at all!
If your hearing aid doesn’t seem to be working correctly, we encourage you to bring it to our office for a diagnosis. In many cases, we can perform the needed repairs in our office using a plethora of tools. We’re experienced in repairing devices from all major manufacturers, and we are happy to help even if you didn’t purchase your aids from us.
Sometimes a specific type of repair is beyond our in-office capabilities, and in these instances we will send your device to the manufacturer. We know that you rely on your hearing aids to live life to the fullest, so we will ensure a quick turn around time and may even have loaner aids for you to use in the meantime. You can count on us to update you every step of the way.
Contact our office today if your hearing aid needs some extra attention. It may benefit from a cleaning or simple tune-up, so feel free to stop by and allow us to help you get back to hearing better!
